Inspire.Create.Challenge #50

The weather here on the South Coast NSW is so bleak...freezing, windy and rainy......perfect for card making. It's the 50th challenge on the Inspire.Create.Challenge blog and I have decided to play along. I love card challenges as they provide inspiration and ideas for card designs, something that I always get stuck on! This is the card sketch challenge:

As soon as I saw this I knew I wanted to showcase the Sailing Home stamp set and co-ordinating dies. Both my husband and son have a career in the Royal Australian Navy, taking them to different destinations here and abroad, so I love anything nautical themed.

When I use the stamp set my go to colours are night of navy and early espresso, I just think that they compliment the stamp set beautifully, and night of navy features on the co-ordinating designer series paper. If I am creating a simple design I have trouble keeping it simple and always add texture, dimension or embellishments. (I just can't help it!)

The front panel of the card is embossed with the subtle 3D embossing folder and raised off the card front with stampin' dimensionals. I have used shimmery white card stock for the circle die cut as I water coloured it with a combination of balmy blue and pool party inks. Before adhering the card front to the base I wrapped night of navy and sahara sand baker's twine around the dsp panel and secured it with a bow. How cute are the birds? I have no idea what they ae but I'm calling them seagulls.

I always like to stamp the inside of my cards.

New online classes launched

With the kids off to school this week I am jumping back into blogging and tutorials. I have added online classes to my schedule this year but before I explain all of that, here is my first  tutorial for 2020. I have used the Timeless Tropical bundle and Sailing Home stamp set to create this silhouette card. This reminds me of my first overseas trip to Fiji in 2018 for my brothers wedding. I created the background using the sponge brayer and three inks - grapefruit grove, so saffron and petal pink. The palm trees, birds and sentiment are stamped in memento black ink. I love being able to mix and match different stamp sets and I think the birds look great on this card. To see how I've put this all together, view the time lapse video below. All of the measurements and supplies are listed in the video description. New Online Classes I have been asked by several customers if I could create online classes in 2020, so here they are! Step up your stamping

Hello and thank you for stopping by. Today I am sharing how I stepped up a simple card design by adding extra elements for a totally different look. You may have heard in the Stampin' Up!/card making world the terms Beginner, Casual and Avid crafter. After a lot of research in to understanding their audience Stampin' Up! came up with these three levels to describe the type of crafters in their worldwide community. I have created three cards using the Lovely Lily Pad stamp set and coordinating dies and designer series paper. All of these items are FREE with purchase from the current Sale a Bration brochure  - when you place an order for $90 or more. This is a great time to build your product stash, the more you purchase the more freebies you can choose! Sale a Bration promotion ends on March 31, 2020. Want to see how I put these all together? Check out my latest Youtube video. I usually make time lapse tutorials as I am so nervous about talking on camera, so in

Global Design Project Challenge #222

Hello and thanks for stopping by. It has been such a long time between blog posts! I hope that you had a lovely Christmas and New Year. My family and I visited Qld for the break and so glad we did as our home town and surrounds were impacted by devastating bushfires. It is heartbreaking to see so many people and animals lose their homes, and some their lives. Let's hope that the worst has passed, my thoughts are with everyone impacted. This year I have set myself a challenge to create and share more by entering card challenges regularly. The first one of the year is with the Global Design Project team. I really enjoy these challenges as they inspire me to create and give me ideas and inspiration. This is a sketch challenge - the idea is to interpret this sketch and make it your own. I used the painted poppies bundle and the peaceful moments bundle plus the coordinating peaceful poppies designer series paper to create this thank you card. The sentiment is heat e
